Current Read

I'm currently reading Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. I saw the movie when it was in theaters and fell in love and ever since I was trying to get my hands on a copy of the book so I could read it but every library in the area has about 30 holds on each copy. So finally I caved and bought it for my Kindle. I'm about halfway through and it is every bit as good as the movie. Usually I read the book before I see the movie but it's been kind of fun doing things in reverse with this one. As I'm reading, I'm remembering back to the movie and so far the movie has stayed very true to the book. The writing is quick witted, honest, and the characters are very real. Regardless of whether or not you've seen the movie yet, if you haven't read the book yet, you definitely should. I'm looking forward to finishing it soon, as I haven't been able to put it down since I started reading.

April {snow} showers bring...wait what?

So it snowed yesterday, a lot. Which is unfortunate not only because it's the middle of April but also because  Jacob and I had plans to see Trampled by Turtles live at First Avenue for their 10th anniversary. But we braved the storm and went to the concert with my sister and her fiance and it was a great show. Once the music started we completely forgot about the fact that it was a wintery mess outside and enjoyed the great set list of songs.

The Great Gatsby

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for this movie to come out. I love, love, loved the book and when I saw this trailer for the first time last summer I was super psyched for it to come out at Christmas time. But then Christmas came and went and I was disappointed to hear that it wasn't coming out until May. May is now just around the corner and I can't wait to see this. I'm excited for the fashions, the decor and the actors. I'm super happy that my favorite actor, Leonardo DiCaprio is playing Gatsby himself. Hopefully this movie does not disappoint.

Trending...

Here some some trends that I'm loving this month...
Source
Eyelet dresses, what I wouldn't give to own this Michael Kors beauty but I'll stick with my strapless, knee-length version from Gap.

Galoshes with dresses. I think this combo is super cute, a mix of fancy with casual and all the while serving a great purpose, especially in the slushy Minnesota spring weather.

I love vintage scarves used as head wraps. My mom just gave me a few of my Grandma's old scarves and I've had lots of fun incorporating them into my daily wardrobe.

Now if only things would warm up around here and the snow would completely melt, then I could actually start wearing my spring clothes again.

Lost and Found

This is a song that I'm really loving lately. It's called Lost and Found by Katie Herzig. Enjoy!

As Summer Winds Down

Once again I have abandoned my blog. Feeling uninspired and not having much to tell about my life I felt that nothing was quite blogworthy to write about. As always when the seasons start to transition (especially when they transition into fall) I feel a tad bit more inspired. I've been crafting a few things and even dusting off some of my art supplies and it's felt great to get my creative juices flowing again. School keeps me busy and since I've been attending school almost non-stop since January I don't have a lot of time to enjoy my hobbies. So on the weekends I try to squeeze something creative in. Last weekend I knit myself a hat, today I spent the day carving a peacock into a linoleum block because it's been way to long since I've done any block printing and I love, love, love block printing.

Anyways that's about all I've been up to besides school. So as we transition into Autumn (yay!) Here's a look back at my summer, since I failed to post the few fun things I did this summer.

Starting with a visit to see Becca, Sam, and my niece Luna in Washington.

Followed by a 4th of July spent at my boyfriends house with a couple of close friends.

And just a couple of weeks ago we celebrated Jacob's 21st birthday with friends and a trip to Valleyfair.

Almost...

So massage school has it's definite perks. I mean what other program are you guaranteed a massage at least once a week? However, the program runs on the quarter system instead of semesters and they want you to be on track to graduate ASAP so summer classes, although they are technically optional (technically), are a must. I've never been in school during the summer, never, so this is a very new concept to me.

I should clarify and say that I do get a summer vacation but it's only three weeks long. But I will take it. This week is my last week of normal classes and then I have finals next week. This means that after next week I have a full three weeks to just relax and do as I please and let me tell you I am soooo looking forward to the three glorious weeks.

Week one will be filled with:
~ A road trip to Washington to see my sister, brother-in-law and my most adorable niece, Luna.
~ I will be cramming in as much precious time with the little one as possible
~ Getting a few crafty projects done while on the road and at my sisters
~ Reading a good book, or a few, suggestions?
~Much needed rest and quality time with the family

Week two will be filled with:
~A trip to see the boyfriend
~Hopefully at least one picnic, if not more
~Watching movies late at night
~Cooking together
~Fireworks on the 4th
~Friends coming to visit on the 4th, yay!
~At least one trip to the beach, hopefully
~Much needed rest and quality time with the boyfriend

Week three will be filled with:
~Whatever I want, mostly relaxing at home and whatever else strikes my fancy.

Even though I know that these three weeks will fly by I plan on soaking up every minute of it and enjoying myself, surrounded by those I love and the things I love to do. So hurry up school and let's get to the heart of matter, summer!
